How to stop your atelier depending on one person

Every small atelier has a Donna. The one who just knows. She knows where that bride's order actually is, past the muslin or still waiting on a fitting. She knows the silk came in two rolls short and someone needs to chase the supplier. She knows which vendor promised what, on which call, and which promise should be taken with a grain of salt. She knows who moved that sample to "shipped" last week and whether it was really shipped.

None of it is written down. It's in her head, her inbox, and a few WhatsApp threads.

The problem isn't Donna. The problem is that the atelier's memory is one person, and one person can be on vacation, out sick, or gone for good. When the operation lives in someone's memory, the business doesn't own it. It rents it from whoever remembers.
